Entrance Exams to Study PG Courses After MBBS in UK

Two entrance exams help students study in the UK. These are PLAB and MRCP/MRCS. Students must appear in any of these if they wish to pursue PG in the UK. Given below are details of these entrance tests:

  1. PLAB:

Students who wish to pursue PG after MBBS in the UK may appear for PLAB. A certificate test helps students gain the GMC ( General medical council). All the students must obtain a GMC if they want to study PG in the UK.

PLAB tests whether a student is eligible for GMC registration. However, it doesn't grant any degree. It only registers the student with GMC.

  1. MRCP/MRCS

MRCS is also the Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom. It is a PG medical diploma in the UK.

Students must clear the MRCP before enrolling in any higher speciality training.

The MRCP is approved for PG qualification by the GMC. After passing the MRCP, students get complete registration of GMC with a license to practice.
