TOEFL Exam Eligibility

TOEFL Eligibility Criteria 2022-23

 

There are certain documents that must be provided to sign up for the exam. 

  1. a valid passport
  2. a recent photo
  3. signature of the candidate for ID proof

The photo and signature must be the same as the ones supplied at the time of the exam. Additionally, candidates should bring their national ID evidence, which contains vital information, as well as a printout of the ETS confirmation email for verification. All of the documents listed above must be originals.

Eligibility of Retaking the TOEFL Exam: 

 

The TOEFL exam is given more than 50 times per year at recognised testing sites across the world. You may retake the test as many times as you like, but there must be a 12-day break between attempts.

TOEFL Eligibility Criteria for Australia

 
  • To attend college or university in Australia, all international students require a student visa.
  • Students must demonstrate their English skills to the Australian Department of Home Affairs in order to obtain an Australian visa.
  • Just make sure to verify the score requirements of the universities and programmes to which they are applying, as they may differ from the student visa requirements.
  • Students can also utilise your TOEFL iBT results to apply for a range of temporary and permanent visas, such as skilled migration, post-study work, business, and work and holiday visas.
  • The minimum scores for TOEFL (internet-based test) — overall score of 60 to 90 to pursue undergraduate courses in Australia. 

TOEFL Eligibility Criteria for UK

University may give a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) to students who have taken an English exam that has not been explicitly recognised by the UK Home Office as a Secure English Language Test (SELT), including the TOEFL iBT. The students are required to have a valid passport, letter of acceptance, medical insurance, proof of language proficiency, sufficient funds and tuition fees. 

Students must meet the TOEFL iBT score requirements set by the Home Office for immigration. These scores are:

For University Degree Level Courses – B2 level
  1. Reading: 18
  2. Listening: 17
  3. Writing: 17
  4. Speaking: 20

TOEFL Eligibility Criteria for USA


Before students can apply for a student visa to the United States, they must first be accepted into a study programme at a recognised American institution, which will require you to demonstrate your English ability with a test such as the TOEFL iBT. It is accepted in most of the leading universities such as Harvard University, MIT, Stanford University.

Many top colleges and universities in the United States and other major international education destinations often require a TOEFL cut off score of 79 or 80. Aside from that, several colleges have TOEFL cut off scores for each portion.

  • TOEFL Composition The topic of the essay should be effectively addressed.
  • The response should be well-organized and well-developed, with relevant explanations and detailed supporting documentation.
  • It should also demonstrate a unity of thought, steady progress, and collective thoughts.
  • Make sure your grammar is correct, but don't overdo it with your sentence structure. Increase your score by varying your sentence formation.
  • Type of question:- (A) One integrated task (Read/Listen/Write) (20 minutes) (Time to read: 3 minutes; time to listen: 2 minutes; time to write: 15 minutes) 1 independent task (B) (30 minutes) The total number of questions is two. Time total: 50 minutes

What are the eligibility criteria to appear for the TOEFL test?

The ETS, the organisation that administers the TOEFL exam, has not established any specific eligibility criteria for the exam. It is primarily given by students seeking admission to English-speaking universities like Australia, Canada, the UK, the USA, colleges, or educational institutions.
